RM3 Power!
By Erich Feigel

We were always fighting the UHF transmitters? We could not get them fixed anywhere. Then, we'd go into Subic and the Phillipino repair crew would swarm on the ship, spend 12 hours yelling and running back and forth, and they'd all be working again.

Also, we were constantly replacing the couplers on the 15' HF Whip antennas. They were nitrogen filled and would leak and fail.

One night about 02:00, I was talking via secure TTY to a carrier about needing a coupler. My chat mate said he'd go wake up the Captain and arrange a rendezvous to get us a coupler. Luckily, I shut him down before THAT HAPPENED.

I wonder what SERVPAC would have thought a RM3 turning a Carrier around?
