The storm mentioned is the one that drove us 200mi straight south while indicating 12 knots into the waves. The hurricane forecastle would actually dive under water into the monster waves and the screw would spin in open air only to dig in as the ship's bow rose up. It lasted for 3 days and on the 3rd day we were allowed on the main deck. Standing 30ft off the water you'd look up at the wave tops when in the trough. by Erich Feigel
